Cancellation of all Local Bodies/Panchayats election in J&K & hold dialogue with all political parties

Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party & former elected Legislator for 15 years in J&K has urged J&K Governor, Shri Satya Pal Malik to hold consultation/round table conference with representatives of all the recognized political parties in J&K. Representatives of Hurriyat Conference need also to be invited. He said that the elections held for Urban Local Bodies have totally flopped and Kashmir province has seen a disaster of the electoral process in the Valley.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that the elections to the local bodies and panchayats need to be held through ballot and not by Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He said that the entire electoral process has been vitiated as the elections were rigged wherever they were held in Jammu or Kashmir. Prof.Bhim Singh said that holding local bodies election through EVM system has been rejected by all the political parties in Europe and even in the American continent. He accused the present governing bodies to rig the election as the election employees were forced to rig the election. Prof.Bhim Singh surprised on the silence of political parties in J&K and elsewhere on the real situation, the way the elections were rigged by the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Prof.Bhim Singh said that elections in J&K were managed, held and looked after by the government machinery which was not responsible to any governance in the state. He called on all the youth and intellectuals including political parties to sit together, think together and decide together what needs to be done to defend democracy in J&K. It should be rule of the ballot and not the bullet.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that he shall convene an All Party Meeting in J&K inviting representatives of all recognised political parties as well as Hurriyat Conference and ex-retired legislators of the state to work out a common line of action to save democracy in J&K and ensure application of all fundamental rights which are guaranteed in the Constitution of India mentioned from Article 12 to Article 35. He hoped that the present Governor may convene an All Party Meeting without delay before going for panchayat elections.
