NPP pays tributes to Kofi Annan on his death
Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party & Chairman of National Legal Aid Committee while addressing the senior members of the National Legal Aid Committee of lawyers expressed shock on the death of the former Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1997 to 2006. Prof.Bhim Singh said that he met Kofi Annan several times when he was the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Prof.Bhim Singh while heading the International Peace Council from India had an opportunity to call on Mr. Kofi Annan in 2001 & again in 2003 at UN Headquarters, New York.
In his tributes he counted Mr. Kofi Annan achievements as UN Chief particularly his role to restore peace in several areas of the world. He has been a guiding force in efforts to seek peace in the troublesome areas in the Middle-East. The greatest contributions he made being the first person to head the United Nations as Secretary-General in the difficult situations and international circumstances.
The several committees patronized by Prof.Bhim Singh in different parts of the country comprising of lawyers, social and political activists held meeting to mourn the death of 80 years old former Secretary-General of the United Nations who was born in Ghana and got the opportunity to serve the international community as the first Secretary-General of the United Nations from Africa.
