Refugee organizations and other Bengali organizations appealed AASU to consider peace and harmony in Assam and look into the conspiracy to set Assam on fire. The appeal requests to withdraw FIR and look out noticed against Nikhil Bharat Udvastu Samanyay samiti President and it claims the Refugee organization and its President DR.Subodh Biswas do not deny their responsibility in the Dhemaji incident as the leadership failed to control the mob and the elements which were involved in violence. AASU Leadership, Assam Government as well as administration know it very well that neither DR.Subodh Biswas nor any speaker at the rally spoke anything provocative. Though they could not control the situation.
Meanwhile AASU is protesting everywhere in Assam and Dhemaji remains under curfew where violence and arson continues.
AASU has issued a threat to call one hundred hour Assam bandh if Dr.Subodh Biswas is not arrested. I am afraid it would rather worsen the situation in Assam and the conspiracy to set Assam with communal conflict might come true on awesome self-destructive scale.
I know personally AASU leader Prafulla Mahanta since eighties and believe that he should not want the situation to go beyond control. Rather everyone in Assam and outside Assam should try to keep peace in Assam so that the conspiracy to set Assam might be resisted.
I expect Mr. Mahanta to lead the initiative and as the refugee organization have accepted their responsibility in the incident, he should try to make situation normal. Once the situation becomes normal, impartial investigation or judicial investigation might be helpful to find out the conspirators and those elements who tried to set Assam on fire.
I would request all political parties and humanitarian institutions to set the peace initiative run.
I am attaching the statement by Bengali and refugee organization addressed to AASU.
NIKHIL Bharat Udvastu Samanyay Samiti general secretary Ad.Ambika Ray working in Supreme Court of India has also issued a statement to ensure peace and emphasized that the law should take its own course but peach must be restored.
Ad.Ambika Roy wrote:
I sincerely appeal to all too please maintain calm and peace. Don't be influenced with rumour and false propagation. We believe in maintaining law as well as peace. We the people love our respected Bhupen Hazarika ji as our singer and there is no doubt that every house in Bengali family is having the cassettes of Bhupen Hazarika. Bengalese can never think of making any form of insult his statue. There must be some bad elements who are trying to disturb the relationship between Assamese and Bengalese. The Govt.is also serious to take steps to find out the actual culprit who was instrumental in the incident of that day. We also deeply pained with the incident. We condemn those persons whosoever is involved and the truth will come out within a short while.
