  I am truly sorry to say this, but it comes from my heart. A massive number of American people are completely, totally, absolutely de-sentitized by 24/7 fun, stupid haha-only shows, video games, big sports, wrestling, violence on cable TV, and more. I see the evidence of dead, drugged brain activity everywhere, and often it makes me wonder if I am the abnormal or at least hyper-reactive. Dumbing down has reached such a level that an unthinkable number --- 81,703 dead men and women here in America (so far) -- does not stir up people's nerves. The political and social powers and their zero-analysis corporate media have managed to create a mass psyche where most people look away from such a very dark reality, and they firmly believe it could not happen to "me," ever. But a very similar grotesque development elsewhere -- China, India, Iraq, Venezuela, Egypt or North Korea would make them frown, ridicule, and condemn.
