Bollywood and sports personalities attend Indian Sports Awards 2017

By News Helpline, Mumbai - 12 November 2017. Virat Kohli Foundation organised the first edition of Indian Sports Award 2017 on Saturday in Mumbai in which Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his girlfriend, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma stole all the limelight as a couple during the red carpet ceremony of the maiden Indian Sports Honour Awards.

There were others obviously. The gala event was studded with personalities both from the sports industry and from Bollywood along with a few from the business section. Yet the camera turned and so did the light as Kohli and Anushka walked in. And it followed them until they left after all the red carpet photography.

While the Indian skipper looked absolutely dashing in his navy-blue tuxedo, the actress seemed drop-dead gorgeous in the red pantsuit.

It was earlier in September that the 29-year-old Virat and Sanjeev Goenka launched the awards at an event in New Delhi to honour Indian sportspersons for their achievements.

Here's what Bollywood celebrities had to say about Indian sports Awards.

Sidharth Malhotra - Today it's a great thing that we are honouring all sports personalities for their contribution to the country. I think hats off to Virat and his team for having this award. I have just come here to support them. In my growing up years, I used to play rugby, football and basketball so I think a lot has to be done when it comes to sports so today's event makes it more important because they are supporting  other sports apart from cricket so it's a great initiative and I am looking forward to the show

Farah Khan - I am very excited about the evening. My close friend Sania Mirza is getting an award today so I am here to support her and all other sports personalities. This is my first appearance in sports awards so I am very excited.

Recently, Farah Khan's debut film 'Om Shanti Om' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone completed 10 years, talking about that Farah said, "I feel very happy. We were trending for it on social media. I am glad that people still remember and love the movie. I am going to have a small party for the cast and crew of the movie when Shah Rukh will give his dates"

When asked Farah whether a biopic should be made on Sania Mirza's life and she has any plan to direct it since she is a close friend of Sania, Farah said, "I feel film should be made on Sania Mirza's life. she has a great story. I don't know if  I can make it because I am not sporty but if possible I would love to because she is one of my best friends but as of now, I don't have such plans"

Sania Mirza - I think Virat is doing an amazing job. We all know the amazing batsman he is and the amazing captain we have but it's really nice as an athlete what he is trying to bring in sports and trying to give exposure to every other sport in our country. I think it's a really amazing thing and I am really looking forward to this evening.

Aamir Khan - I am very happy to be here today. I think what Virat is doing and his entire effort to give support to young sportsmen all across the country is a wonderful idea and we all here to support him and I am here to meet all wonderful sportsmen of  our country"
